U.S. Senator Michael Bennet is moving forward with National Conservation Area legislation for a portion of the Dolores River Corridor below McPhee Reservoir from the base of McPhee Reservoir to the San Miguel/Montrose County line. We expect to see legislation introduced in the Senate soon. The proposal includes over 74,000 acres and 76 river miles. It is supported by Dolores, San Miguel, and Montezuma Counties, the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, and many local stakeholders including DRBA and other conservation and recreation organizations. DRBA has been working on this effort for years and we are excited to see it move to the next step.
