Bruce has worked in the outdoor and adventure education profession for over 20 years as an instructor, guide, educator, and administrator. Some of his early formative outdoor education experiences occurred in the desert southwest including the Dolores River. After 12 years running collegiate outdoor programs, he transitioned to faculty while at Green Mountain College. After a teaching stint at the University of Idaho, he moved to Durango to teach in the Adventure Education program and coordinate Fort Lewis on the Water, an interdisciplinary water-based outdoor education program. Bruce follows the water each season as a ski guide and avalanche educator based out of Silverton, CO in the winter and a State of Colorado Raft Guide Instructor and American Canoe Association Swiftwater Rescue Instructor in the summer.
